Define Specification
This is usually done before a quote but sometimes is done as part of the project. Occasionally our clients hand us a specification for exactly what they want. More often, our Sales Engineers meet with them once or multiple times and work out the details needed to provide an accurate quote. This process also tends to bring up potential problems, new features, and a clearer understanding of the project goals.
Provide Quote
A project quote from Process Solutions provides the client with more than just a price. Each quote details the project background, a system description, hardware and software provided, and a scope of work for engineering, manufacturing, and installation. It is designed so that everyone involved knows exactly what they are getting into and what is expected.
After the design requirements are specified, you can expect a quote within 5 working days but usually sooner.
Design and Documentation
Although every system we design is custom, our design process has become routine and repeatable. We have shipped more than 10,000 systems over the years and leverage that experience with each new project. Typical tasks include:
- Hardware and Software Selection
- Functional Specification
- Panel layout and heat flow
- Electrical schematics
- Software Design Document
Programming
Software development utilizes previously written code and interface screens as much as possible. From there, our engineers follow strict standards that make the format of every program similar.
All code is commented thoroughly so the user or another Process engineer can easily understand its operation in the field. Our customers receive all their source code, nothing is ever proprietary to Process.
Commissioning and Support
Projects do not end after the shipping trucks leave. The majority of our projects involve some on-site installation, start-up, and commissioning. These services often take us across, and frequently out of the country.
Usually only one engineer is required but larger or faster installs may require multiple engineers and technicians. We don't leave until your machine is running perfectly and you know how it works. After install, any support required is always available from anyone at our company.
Fabrication
Once the schematics are complete, they are sent to the shop for fabrication of the control panels. Build-out usually takes about a week from layout through testing. Testing is rigorous and routine to ensure no expensive surprises at start-up.
